Rangiora Christian Youth Hostel
This Christian Youth Hostel is a comfortable home with an friendly atmosphere and is conveniently located close to Campsie Railway Station. It is on direct bus routes to Sydney University, the University of NSW and the University of Technology. Campsie is less than a half hour by train from the Sydney Central Business District.
In June 1973, Christian Youth Hostel Ltd began this ministry of providing accommodation and care for Christian young people coming to Sydney from rural areas of Australia to work or to further their studies.
Over 32 years it has catered for a total of approximately 350 residents. There have been many changes during that time but over the period 2002 to 2005, despite an extensive advertising campaign, it became evident that the demand wasn’t great enough to make the operation of Rangiora Hostel viable. After much prayer and discussion the Directors felt the Lord was leading them to offer the building to another evangelical group who would be able to make better use of the facilities.
Consequently the Hostel ceased operations on 30 June 2005 and the South Sydney branch of Fusion International, whose evangelical youth work is growing, leased the building. They moved in on 1 July 2005 and are using the Hostel as part of their ministries. Hostel contact details are here.
The Directors of Christian Youth Hostel Ltd are satisfied that this change of operation has been directed by the Lord and that much blessing will continue to be evident in the lives of young people. They say "We want to thank all who have supported the Hostel practically and prayerfully over the years, and would encourage you to pray for the continuing evangelical work that will be carried out by Fusion from that place."
The hostel still remains the property of Christian Youth Hostel Ltd, and the new work still complies with its Constitution.
